The study examined the role of the teacher in the integration of digital technologies in Portuguese language teaching, identifying challenges and opportunities in the contemporary educational context. The research used a literature review methodology, analyzing relevant articles, theses and reports to understand educational transformations in the digital era. The results indicated that, although there are significant barriers such as the lack of adequate technological infrastructure and unequal access to technologies, there is considerable potential for the use of digital resources to promote more interactive and personalized learning. The work showed that the continuous training of teachers and the development of adaptive pedagogical strategies are essential to overcome the identified challenges. The analysis revealed the importance of an integrated approach that considers both technical and pedagogical aspects in the implementation of educational technologies. Furthermore, the study highlighted the need for public policies that promote digital inclusion and equity in access to technological tools. Final considerations pointed to the urgency of investments in technological infrastructure in schools, teacher training programs focused on digital skills and the development of educational policies that ensure equitable access to technologies. It was concluded that, to achieve a more inclusive and effective education in the digital context, a joint effort between educators, managers and public policy makers is essential, aiming at the effective and meaningful integration of digital technologies in Portuguese language teaching.
