COMBATING HUMAN ORGAN TRAFFICKING: IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC MEASURES AND POLICIES

The practice of organ trafficking is a serious violation of human rights, demanding a global response, starting with the prevention of this crime within each country, in order to reduce the rates of international trafficking. Therefore, based on what is determined by national legislation, this scientific article presents measures to prevent and combat organ trafficking through the presentation of Brazilian standards that deal with this crime, as well as suggesting the implementation and improvement of public policies for this purpose. The general objective of this study was to present the current understandings in order to reduce cases of organ trafficking and promote an ethical and transparent distribution of them. Produced through deductive methodology, this study consists of preparing a literature review article, through bibliographical, exploratory and qualitative research, with analysis of the current situation, development of prevention strategies and implementation of public policies in Brazil. Presenting the provisions of criminal law and data provided by national authorities and international bodies, this work aims to contribute to the protection of human rights and the guarantee of fair access to legal and ethical transplants.
