THE EFFICIENCY OF PELVIC PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH SEXUAL DYSFUNCTIONS RESULTING FROM VIOLENCE

This article sought to demonstrate how physiotherapy is capable of impacting the treatment and improving the health and quality of life of patients with sexual dysfunctions resulting from cases of violence. The general objective was to understand the impact of pelvic physiotherapy in the treatment of patients with sexual dysfunctions resulting from violence. The bibliographic and descriptive research methodology was adopted, carried out through a bibliographic literature review, based on the search and selection of articles, magazines, periodicals, books, dissertations, theses and documents that address the proposed theme, published in the last 15 years. , in the databases Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google Scholar and Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS). It was concluded that due to the development of some sexual dysfunction due to trauma or sexual violence, the practice of physiotherapy, especially techniques aimed at working with the pelvic floor muscles, promotes both the strengthening of this muscle and the improvement of its contractions. , also favoring the gain of body awareness and the treatment of possible sexual dysfunctions, directly influencing the improvement of the physical, psychological and sexual health of such patients, as well as the gain of well-being and quality of life, favoring the recovery of their confidence and self-esteem.
