Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) is defined as a chronic non-communicable disease, characterized by high blood pressure levels, which affects more than 1.2 billion people worldwide. It is an extremely costly disease for health systems, as it involves direct and indirect costs. Considering this context, it is feasible for health systems to look for ways to prevent hypertension and promote the health of hypertensive patients, contributing to cost reduction. Therefore, this article aims to identify the importance of the Farmácia Popular do Brasil program for patients with systemic arterial hypertension, regarding pharmaceutical care. The methodology of this work is a bibliographic review of the literature, based on articles from 2021 to 2024. I can conclude that the Farmácia Popular program is of great value, as the medicines have no cost, thus enabling all patients to follow appropriate treatment.
