Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is a malignant neoplasm resulting from the multiplication of abnormal breast cells. The main and most effective screening exam is mammography; however, this exam can show inconsistencies in diagnosis. Because of this, the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) for the screening and diagnosis of BC has begun. Objectives: To observe how the use of AI can assist in the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Methodology: This study is an integrative literature review conducted through searches in databases. Results and discussions: Twenty articles were used for the preparation of this study. A mutual opinion was observed that AI has revolutionized diagnostic medicine, with the potential to transform the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, including breast cancer. Artificial intelligence has increased the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of diagnostic exams. Conclusion: Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve the accuracy of exams in the screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. This technological advancement allows for better accuracy in tests and makes early detection of this cancer more reliable. As a result, it is increasingly possible to implement more effective interventions that improve patient prognosis.
