Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints. Its diagnosis can be challenging, especially in the early stages, due to the insidious nature of the symptoms. This article reviews the essential aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, addressing current clinical guidelines, diagnostic methods, and evidence-based therapeutic strategies. Early recognition of symptoms and appropriate intervention are crucial to preventing disease progression and improving patients' quality of life. Imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging, and the use of inflammatory biomarkers are important tools in managing the condition.
