The book "Incentive to Reading in Classrooms: Portuguese Language and Literature in Elementary School" is a response to the growing educational demands for pedagogical practices that promote reading in a dynamic and effective way. In a world where technology and information are becoming increasingly accessible, continuous reading is an essential tool for building knowledge, developing critical thinking skills, and enriching students' cultural skills.
This material was designed for elementary school teachers, especially those who work with Portuguese Language and Literature, and provides a practical approach on how to encourage reading in the classroom, adapted to the guidelines of the National Curricular Parameters (PCNs). The goal is to offer strategies that bring students closer to texts in a meaningful way, promoting not only the habit of reading, but also critical understanding and the enjoyment of literary knowledge.
Divided into specific chapters, the book covers everything from the importance of reading in the school environment to an in-depth discussion on the different textual genres and their applications, according to the guidelines of the PCNs. In addition, we present suggestions for activities that can be applied in everyday school life, with the purpose of making reading more accessible and attractive to students.
Throughout the work, the reader will find reflections on the challenges and opportunities of working on reading in the classroom, as well as guidelines that help in the practical application of the concepts presented. The final chapter brings together considerations that reinforce the relevance of encouraging reading as a fundamental pillar in the educational process.
We hope that this work contributes to the improvement of reading practices in schools, providing a positive impact on the formation of critical and creative readers.
