Bichectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, where the oral portion of the adipose body of Bichat (Bichat's ball) is removed, located between the Bucinator and Masseter muscles. The technique has functional indication for patients who traumatize the jugal mucosa frequently, for grafts from head and neck surgeries, in addition, it is recommended for aesthetics, reducing the volume of the lateral middle third of the face. Prominent zygomatic eminences and a well-defined mandible are necessary aesthetic criteria for the good harmony of the face, the space within the zygomatic arch and the mandible that defines the region of inferior concavity to malar projection, can be achieved through a combination of procedures, including Bichectomy. The same has been much requested in dental offices, requiring that it be performed by a qualified professional to achieve a result of excellence. Therefore, the aim of this study is to review the literature of the surgical technique of Bichectomy.
