This study investigates the implications of excessive use of electronic devices on the cognitive, emotional and social development of children. The increase in screen time among children, driven by the popularization of devices such as smartphones and tablets, raises concerns about the long-term impacts on children's behavior and mental health. The objective is to analyze how prolonged exposure to these devices affects neuropsychological development, in addition to identifying the main negative consequences, such as sleep disorders, difficulty concentrating and emotional problems. The methodology adopted includes a literature review based on scientific articles published in the last five years, in addition to the analysis of case studies and epidemiological data that correlate the use of screens with dysfunctional behaviors. The results obtained indicate a clear association between prolonged use of electronic devices and impairments in child development, especially in areas such as social interaction and emotional control. The conclusion highlights the need for awareness on the part of parents and educators, in addition to the implementation of public policies that regulate the time children spend using screens, aiming to protect their integral and healthy development.
