The pelvic floor performs essential functions in urinary, fecal and sexual activities, as well as contributing to obstetric health. Dysfunctions in this area, such as urinary incontinence and genital prolapse, negatively affect women's quality of life and are becoming increasingly prevalent. Based on this, this study investigates the influence of physiotherapy on the prevention and treatment of the main pelvic dysfunctions in women. The research was conducted through an integrative literature review, using descriptors such as “Physiotherapy”, “Pelvic Floor Disorders” and “Urinary Incontinence”. Studies were selected in Portuguese and English, published between 2019 and 2024, with full access and free of charge. The analysis aims to identify how physiotherapeutic interventions can improve patients' quality of life and prevent dysfunctions from worsening. After selecting 10 articles that make up the results and discussion, we infer: Pelvic physiotherapy has emerged as an effective approach to treat and prevent these dysfunctions in a non-invasive way, using techniques such as kinesiotherapy, biofeedback, vaginal cones and electrotherapy to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. As well as improving quality of life, this intervention can prevent the need for surgery and is essential for at-risk groups such as postpartum and menopausal women. Pelvic physiotherapy therefore plays a crucial role in promoting women's health and preventing pelvic dysfunction.
