The objective is to present the mapping of the variables present in the definition of the bed management criterion mediated by the Gravity, Urgency and Tendency (GUT) matrix, categorizing the priority in a systematic and safe way in the hospital bed dimensioning. This work used the systematic literature review (Systematic Literature Review - SLR) based on bibliographic research and theoretical discussion based on hospital cases, besides the theoretical confrontation of several empirical studies that led to the mapping of essential variables for the management of beds in hospital organizations of supplementary health. As a result, the theory advocates that the bed management involves strategic processes and, for its management, the criterion are technologies that can be redesigned if necessary to ensure a safe bed within the established criterion and optimize the waiting time for hospitalization.
