The overall objective of this study is to examine the evolution of medications used in the treatment of breast cancer, highlighting recent innovations and their implications for the efficacy and quality of life of patients. The methodology adopted was a bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, using academic articles and documents from the Guidelines of the Federal Council of Pharmacy of Brazil, focusing on publications between 2020 and 2024. The development of the study explores the transition from conventional therapies, such as chemotherapy, to more modern treatments, such as targeted therapies and immunotherapies. Targeted therapies, for example, provide more specific treatments, directly attacking cancer cells without affecting healthy tissues, while immunotherapies stimulate the immune system to fight cancer. This evolution demonstrates a significant change in treatment, resulting in fewer adverse effects and greater personalization of therapies. In conclusion, the study highlights the crucial role of the pharmacist in guiding and monitoring patients, ensuring adherence to treatment and minimizing side effects. Innovations in treatments have contributed to an improvement in the survival and quality of life of patients. The future of breast cancer treatment points to the development of even more precise, accessible therapies with fewer side effects, requiring collaboration between health professionals, researchers and the pharmaceutical industry to face emerging challenges.
