THE ROLE OF NURSING IN HOSPITAL CARE FOR MOTHERS OF HIGH-RISK NEWBORN

This article sought to discuss the importance and challenges faced in assisting these mothers, highlighting essential strategies and interventions to ensure quality assistance and promote the well-being of families. This is an exploratory, descriptive bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, using a search in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) database using the keywords: “Nursing care, newborns and high risk” in the period 2019 to 2024. Hospital care for mothers of high-risk newborns requires a comprehensive, family-centered approach based on scientific evidence. It is noted that the implementation of care protocols, training of the healthcare team, emotional support and clear guidelines are fundamental to ensuring quality assistance and promoting the well-being of families during this crucial period. It is considered that for qualified assistance, professionals must receive specific training on the needs of high-risk mothers and babies, including clinical aspects, empathetic communication and educational guidelines.
