This experience report aims to share the experiences of the Geography Pedagogical Residency program at the Dom Severino school in Teresina, highlighting the application of active methodologies to promote student protagonism. During the residency period, in 2023, several interactive activities were implemented with the 1st and 2nd year high school classes, which encouraged student participation, with an emphasis on group dynamics. These methodologies aimed to create a collaborative environment where students could express their ideas and collaborate in the construction of knowledge. The practices adopted showed that, by becoming the protagonists of their learning, students showed a significant increase in motivation and understanding of the content. Their active participation in discussions and group activities resulted in better academic performance compared to when they only acted as listeners. The experiences at the Dom Severino school show the effectiveness of active methodologies in education. By promoting the role of the students, it was possible not only to improve their performance, but also to create a more dynamic and participatory environment, which is essential for meaningful learning in Geography.
