This work: "Inclusion and Accessibility for People with Visual Impairment: Challenges, Advances and Perspectives in Brazil" was created from a collaborative process between professors and researchers who stood out and qualified the discussions in this training space.
Inclusion and accessibility for people with visual impairment in Brazil represent a multifaceted and constantly evolving field, where historical challenges, technological advances and promising perspectives for a more egalitarian future intertwine. This eBook aims to explore these dimensions, offering a critical analysis of the current panorama and proposing paths for the construction of a truly inclusive society.
Visual impairment, which ranges from low vision to total blindness, presents complex challenges that impact daily life, access to education, the job market and full participation in social life. Despite significant advances in recent decades, many obstacles remain, requiring an integrated and continuous approach to promoting accessibility and inclusion.
Brazil, with its diversity and social complexity, has made progress on several fronts, from legislation and public policies to technological innovations and pedagogical practices. The Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (Law No. 13,146/2015), for example, represents an important milestone in ensuring rights and promoting accessibility in several sectors. However, the effective implementation of these policies.
We hope that this eBook contributes to a deeper understanding of the topics covered and inspires concrete actions to promote a more accessible and inclusive Brazil for everyone, regardless of their visual abilities. The journey towards inclusion is a collective effort, and each step taken represents a victory in building a more just and egalitarian society.
