This article sought to report, in a clinical case, the importance of alveolar ridge regularization surgery for subsequent manufacture of complete dentures. A report was carried out at the Inapós teaching clinic, with a review of bibliographic literature, carried out through virtual searches, articles indexed in the scientific databases: SciELO and PubMed, to have scientific basis. Dental extractions can significantly alter the anatomy of the alveolar ridge if it is not regularized during the procedure, there may be the presence of bone spicules. These protrusions can cause maladjustment and pain when using complete dentures. In these cases, alveolar ridge correction surgery and manufacture of a new prosthesis are indicated. A 67-year-old female patient sought the Inapós teaching clinic to replace her complete denture due to maladjustment and pain when using it. During the clinical examination, a protrusion was observed in the maxilla, indicating ridge correction surgery. The patient underwent surgery under local anesthesia and the procedure was performed with a minicute drill. She is still waiting for healing to be performed so that a new prosthesis can be made. It was concluded that surgery offers favorable conditions for the installation of new dental prostheses, when the patient follows all post-surgical instructions and with adequate healing.
