The use of pesticides in Brazil and around the world has been constant due to their potential to increase productivity and profits from plantations, as it helps in the usual combat. The bioaccumulation of these compounds causes damage to the ecosystem, and it is important that the use, application and disposal of these compounds occurs appropriately. Therefore, this work aims to investigate the practices of applying pesticides to plantations by the population of Tamatateua-PA. The work was carried out through observation and a semi-structured questionnaire in October 2021. The results showed that 100% of those interviewed evaluated the use of pesticides in their plantations (herbicides and insecticides); 97% did not know that pesticides had a toxicological classification, but 85% were aware of the product's risks of poisoning; 90% did not know what PPE. It was verified that PPE was not used or used incorrectly and that packaging was disposed of in inconvenient ways. This raised awareness among the population involved in the research.
