This article addresses the genesis of Pernambuco society and its original peoples. The direct and promiscuous relationship between the religious and political sectors of the colonial era is also recorded, as well as their historical permanence in contemporary times. This article demonstrates that, in the early days of Pernambuco society, there was the instrumentalization of religion to consolidate dominance, being an auxiliary belt for the colonizing forces. This work also highlights the social hierarchy structured based on ethnic-racial elements. It is recorded that slavery represented the colonial economic driving force, through the dehumanization of races considered inferior. In this colonial socioeconomic context, resistance actions by oppressed population groups are also evident. Finally, the continuity of sub-citizenship of secularly subordinated populations is highlighted due to the ineffectiveness of constitutionally guaranteed and rights.
