This article aims to highlight the importance of non-formal education spaces in the teaching-learning process and how they can contribute to consolidating the knowledge learned in the classroom. Therefore, these educational spaces enable us to learn through sensory and practical experiences, which are experiences in environments outside the classroom, providing an articulation of theory and practice. The methodology adopted was a literature review. The inclusion criteria were journals published between 2019 and 2023, based on the survey of scientific articles conducted in the database of Capes Journals - Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. Searches on this platform were conducted using the keyword: Non-formal education. The results pointed to the use of non-formal education spaces with various different approaches, but with the same purpose of contributing to the teaching-learning process during theoretical classes. The use of non-formal education spaces is still challenging but was shown during the research to be necessary for the effectiveness of learning.
