PHYSIOTHERAPY IN NEONATOLOGY: SENSORY AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT IN CASES OF NEONATAL RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME (RDS)

This article is designed to analyze the effectiveness of respiratory therapy and not treat respiratory difficulties recently born prematurely and determine the technique but it is appropriate and safe. It is carried out by birth, mainly through respiratory physiotherapy. The results tend to be influenced by a specific hospital practice, influenced by the training of fisioterapeutas and by the scientific literature that allows it to converge as a practice based on a protocol that includes basic techniques that are evident in its effectiveness (Evidencia Prática Baseada). It is necessary to direct an investigation for an analysis of the effectiveness of our respiratory technology using our recent findings for the final analysis. The frequency of these pathologies is inversely proportional to the gestational age at birth. The physiotherapist, through the Respiratory physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in these conditions; it can intervene in the delivery room if necessary, postnatally if the newborn is transferred to intensive care, as well as for the treatment of after-effects caused by its prematurity.
