TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN SOBRAL-CE - EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE, CAUSES, SEQUENCES AND TREATMENT

The increase in traffic accidents represents a public health problem in Brazil and in several other countries. The consequences of a traffic accident can last throughout the individual's life, as the serious consequences acquired through it are very limiting with regard to the simplest and most important daily activities such as movement, work, health and autonomy for everyday activities and , with these factors, reducing the quality of life. The study aimed to outline an epidemiological profile of patients who were victims of traffic accidents in the city of Sobral - CE. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The study was carried out with victims of traffic accidents living in the city of Sobral - Ceará. The research was carried out at the UNINTA Physiotherapy School Clinic. Data collection began after project qualification and approval by the ethics committee (opinion 3,495,514). The research was carried out during the months of September and October and data analysis took place in November and ending in December with the presentation of the monograph to the examining board. This study followed Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council and was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the INTA University Center. Twenty traffic accident patients participated in the study, with a mean age of 37.35±11.15 years. Regarding the profile of these victims, there was a predominance of males (75%), married (50%), who had completed high school (60%). Among those who had a driver's license (60%), all had it for more than two years. In the results obtained through this study, the importance of physiotherapy for patients involved in car accidents was evident, in which 100% of those interviewed reported that there was an improvement after the start of physiotherapy, mainly in relation to the increase in muscle strength and amplitude. of the movement.
