This article questions how education is playing its dignifying role in the process of resocialization of incarcerated citizens. Considering, specifically, that resocialization through education is available throughout the Brazilian prison system, to what extent have Public Policies provided conditions so that imprisoned citizens can reintegrate into society? Considering the lack of minimum existential conditions in cells, how does education impact the lives of these incarcerated people? Would it be the basic instrument to prevent crime? This work aims to demonstrate that academic discussions on the topic are not sufficiently specific regarding, for example: deepening the effective role of education in the resocialization process; regarding the fact that education can be dignifying in the life of a human being; the discussion of concrete public policies in the implementation of education in the Brazilian prison system, with doctrinal views in the sociological, economic, legal, and human rights areas as a whole; and also on the paths that can be taken to achieve the rights to dignity of imprisoned citizens. In this sense, the research is based on the method of investigation and bibliographical survey and literature review, aiming to establish a greater understanding of the situation.
