Heart Failure (HF) is an inadequacy of cardiac output to meet metabolic demands, or an adequate cardiac output secondary to compensatory neurohormonal activation. It poses a significant public health challenge due to its high morbidity and mortality rates, and is a leading cause of hospitalization among patients aged 65 and older. This study aims to determine the epidemiological profile of urgently hospitalized adult patients with heart failure by analyzing data from the Department of Health Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). Through a descriptive analysis of prevalence indicators, mortality rates, and hospitalization costs associated with these admissions, we aim to provide relevant parameters for the development of more effective and targeted health policies. These policies are intended to enhance the management and clinical outcomes of these patients.
