The present research aims to carry out a literature review on the topic of obstetric violence in the light of Human Rights, as well as present some emblematic cases judged by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (CorteIDH) and human rights protection bodies. For this, bibliographic review was chosen as a methodological contribution, making use of databases, such as national and international websites, articles from the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), dissertations and theses from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTB ) - Personnel Improvement Coordination (CAPES). In this way, it was possible to verify the performance of CorteIDH, including in Brazil, as a front of national and international protection against obstetric violence. In particular, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has sought to guarantee the rights to give birth in a dignified manner, reaffirming the international commitment to gender equality, dignity and autonomy of women. However, obstetric violence requires a complex approach, combining legal and educational efforts, together with the implementation of public policies and civil society awareness to promote women's human rights.
