Abstract

The project addressed the influence of the internet on individuals' political actions in the digital age, taking into account the fourth industrial revolution, digital populism, and their implications for the protection of individual rights and democracy. Through a literature review, we examined how the internet shapes the formation of political awareness, citizen participation, and challenges to the health of democracy. Racial discrimination, the spread of hate speech, and hostility towards migrants are challenges that can be amplified in the digital society. Access to health information and the promotion of citizenship are also in focus, with the need to address misinformation and ensure access to reliable information. Despite the challenges, the comprehensive analysis highlights the importance of understanding the dynamics of the internet in politics and in the digital society. The project fulfilled its objectives by examining these complex issues, recognizing the constant evolution of this field, and emphasizing the need for continuous adaptation to preserve democracy, protect individual rights, and promote a fair and informed digital society.
