This epidemiological study investigated the prevalence and admission patterns for thyroid disorders in Brazil over a decade, with special attention to the state of Paraná. Using data from the Hospital Information System (SIH), cases of hypothyroidism were analyzed, highlighting its predominance among men and women aged 20 to 79 years. The methodology involved a descriptive approach with annual data collection between 2013 and 2023, using variables such as number of admissions, sex, age group, and race/ethnicity. Additionally, the presence of thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) in pregnant women was associated with an increased risk of hypothyroidism during pregnancy. However, the study has limitations, including reliance on secondary data and the lack of detailed regional analyses. Therefore, future robust studies are needed to fully understand the epidemiological profile of hypothyroidism in the country and to guide effective public health strategies.
