Objective: To describe how to deal with women and girls with hemophilia and the possible complications of the disease they face. Methods: An integrative review of the literature, containing the following guiding question: How to deal with women and girls with hemophilia and the possible complications of the disease? To create this question, the PICO strategy was used, where “p” population: Women and girls with hemophilia, “I” interest: Assessment of women and girls with hemophilia, and “C” and “O” context: Description of women and girls with hemophilia and its possible complications. An advanced search was used through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), crossing the descriptors using the Boolean operators “AND” and “OR”. Results: Through advanced research, a total of 222 articles were obtained, of which 6 were used to compose the discussion, which was constructed through two categories, which were: Hemophilia in women and girls, health education and treatment precocious; and Complications in women and girls: pregnancy and menstruation. Conclusion: During the article, the difficulties experienced by hemophiliac women or girls were elucidated, namely: the lack of early treatment of the disease, due to its rarity in women; lack of health education; and heavy bleeding due to menstruation.
