Abstract

Domestic violence is considered a major social and public health problem, given that, given the facts, it impacts the trajectory of both those who suffer violence and those who merely watch it. Taking into account the fact that there are children who are indirectly involved in the same violence committed, causing even greater damage. The objective of this work is to bring recent information on the topic covered, current statistics and evaluate what contributions systemic psychology can benefit within a violent family context. Bearing in mind that within a family dynamic based on systemic theory, several parts do not form a whole, it is never the sum of the parts but rather a system relating to each other. If there is complexity, there is instability, and it may be from this instability that, in a systemic view, the practices of domestic violence can arise, which, significantly, has increased statistics in Brazil and abroad. The practice of this violence, whether against women or family members involving more than one person, has always been practiced, and often goes unpunished. The importance of family medical and psychological support is extremely important to understand the dynamics of this family and the context of the violence suffered, as well as a place of listening, empathy and acceptance for the victims of such violence suffered.
