Pharmaceutical assistance is crucial in oncology, aiming to provide safe and quality medicines to prevent, promote and restore health. Its goals include promoting high-quality care, protecting workers from the risks of chemotherapy drugs, eliminating medication errors, developing ethical planning for managing medications, and improving outcomes from the use of antineoplastic drugs. The present study aimed to present the contributions of the pharmacist in dispensing medications to cancer patients. Chosen methodology for Systematic Literature Review (RSL) carried out in the Cochane, PubMed, SciELO and BVS databases, using the following descriptors: “pharmaceutical”, “oncology” and “dispensation”, using AND (E) connector, both in their variations in Portuguese and English. The terms were searched both in the title and summary of the works. From the research carried out, 17 unique articles related to the topic were selected. Of these, 14 (82.3%) were published in Portuguese, and 3 (35.29%) in English. This relationship indicates interest in national research on the topic, demonstrating that professionals are gaining greater visibility regarding the performance of their technical activities. The articles presented an absolute predominance in systematic reviews, demonstrating a lack of articles that directly situate and investigate the professional's actions regarding the dispensing of drugs to cancer patients. Based on the data analysis, it is evident that the implementation of pharmaceutical care is essential and offers several advantages. This study highlights the relevance of pharmaceutical professionals in supporting cancer patients, demonstrating the need and promising potential of this approach to guarantee the well-being and effectiveness of treatment.
