This study aims to analyze the impacts of the Jirau and Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plants' dams in the state of Rondônia, focusing on applicable legislation and risk prevention measures against dam failure. The problem is: what are the impacts of the hydroelectric power plants' dams in the state of Rondônia? Based on this, the specific objectives include analyzing the socio-environmental impacts resulting from the construction and operation of the dams, including community displacement, changes in the ecosystem, and impacts on water quality; presenting the concept of dams and how they occur in the state of Rondônia; and verifying the compliance with environmental and safety legislation by the Jirau and Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plants' dams in Rondônia. Based on this analysis, discussions and recommendations will be developed to improve risk prevention measures, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with these important energy generation structures in Rondônia. Thus, the deductive methodology was used, presenting bibliographic and legal research, as well as techniques of reference, category, operational concept, and call.
