Introduction: Obesity and metabolic syndrome represent significant public health challenges due to their association with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions. Objective: This study aims to investigate and synthesize the latest evidence on emerging therapeutic approaches for obesity and metabolic syndrome, including pharmacological and behavioral interventions, in order to provide a comprehensive overview of therapeutic strategies available and in development. Material and methods: This study consists of an integrative literature review. The search was conducted in the LILACS, BDENF and MEDLINE databases, using the DeCS "Obesity", "Metabolic Syndrome" and "Pharmacological Treatment", combined by the Boolean operator AND. Articles available online, in Portuguese, Spanish and English, published in 2019-2022, that addressed the topic were included. Articles that did not address the topic and repeated studies were excluded. Literature review: A variety of emerging therapeutic approaches in the management of obesity and metabolic syndrome were revealed. Among pharmacological interventions, anti-obesity agents stand out, which aim to modify energy balance, appetite regulation and fat metabolism. In relation to behavioral interventions, approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, lifestyle modification programs. Final Thoughts: Emerging therapeutic strategies offer significant promise in improving metabolic health and reducing the risk of complications associated with these conditions. However, further studies are needed to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of these interventions, as well as their applicability in different populations and clinical contexts.
