Among the various services performed by Primary Care nurses, childcare consultations have increasingly stood out, with protocols that are not always put into practice. Objective: this work analyzes what the literature presents about the responsibilities of primary care nurses as providers of childcare, verifies the influence of this professional as a responsible marker of the developmental milestone of children from 0 to 2 years old, and analyzes the actions employed and the training of the nurse carrying out these consultations. Method: the research is based on a bibliographical review of publications between the years 2018 and 2022. Conclusion: the nurse, as a childcare provider, is the professional responsible for monitoring child development and growth and their respective record in the child's notebook. This monitoring aims to observe whether the child is developing appropriately, both in terms of physical height and cognitively, identifying any delays or anomalies that may be signs suggestive of syndromes or diseases, providing early treatment. Despite the considerable role of nurses in childcare consultations, there are many difficulties they encounter when carrying them out. Such difficulties impact the quality of care and contribute to non-compliance with the protocol.
