Abstract

This paper presents a literature review on occupational health and safety, focusing on the challenges faced, preventive practices, and the impact of interventions on workers' protection, particularly in the construction sector. Objective: to analyze the relevance of prevention practices and the role of occupational health nurses in promoting occupational health. Materials and Methods: A bibliographic approach was used to compile and analyze data from various sources. Results: The importance of preventing occupational accidents and diseases, the crucial role of occupational health nurses, safety management practices in the construction industry, the impact of labor reforms and public policies, working conditions, and their effect on the health-disease process, and continuous education as essential practices and interventions were highlighted. Additionally, the need for effective public policies and the integration of occupational health with other areas of public health to promote healthy habits and prevent diseases was evidenced. Conclusion: Promoting health and safety at work requires a multidimensional approach, involving education, public policies, and the integration of occupational health practices to improve working conditions and protect workers' health.
