Introduction: Congenital syphilis corresponds to the assessment of the quality of prenatal care and can cause unfavorable outcomes such as fetal or perinatal death, prematurity, low birth weight. Therefore, with the failure of the congenital syphilis control program, especially in Rio de Janeiro, it is important to look back and see what problems can be solved to improve this situation. Objective: To analyze the current scenario of CS in Rio de Janeiro to understand the relevance of this disease in the State and how to improve its control. Methodology: This is a descriptive, ecological, retrospective study, on data on congenital syphilis made available by the Epidemiological Bulletin of the city of RJ, in 2022. Results: It is noted that there are areas that present a higher concentration of cases in regions of greater vulnerability. Observation regarding treatment did not bring positive numbers, with a low rate of adequate therapy. Conclusion: Even with advances in the attempt to eradicate congenital syphilis; these were still not enough to achieve this. Therefore, more studies are needed on the epidemiological panorama and profile, in order to more adequately face the challenges of this control program.
