STORYTELLING IN EARLY EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

This work aims to demonstrate the importance of storytelling as an essential strategy for child development in early childhood education. Through narrative, children are encouraged to imagine scenarios and characters, which contributes to expanding their creativity and imagination. Furthermore, stories provide opportunities to enrich vocabulary and improve language and oral communication. The methodological procedure used in this research was a bibliographical survey of books and articles that deal with the topic addressed, in addition to legislation documents to understand the importance of the topic in the educational context. To this end, the keywords “storytelling, child development and early childhood education” were researched in the academic research databases Google Scholar and Scielo and those considered pertinent to the research objective were selected for registration and study.
