The use of new materials in the production of concrete blocks has been an area of growing interest in the construction industry. This study addresses the exploration and use of different materials as additions or replacements to traditional aggregates in the manufacture of cement blocks. The research highlights the importance of finding viable and sustainable alternatives to improve the properties of cement blocks. New materials such as industrial waste, ash, slag, recycled plastics and even modified natural materials. In order to produce new materials, a mixture was made with conventional construction materials for blocks containing conventional low-cost organic waste: coffee grounds and another containing polypropylene microfiber. The main objective was based on the creation of an efficient method in which we can produce resistant blocks and the description of a new protocol regarding these “ecological” blocks. Through the work it was concluded that it is possible to manufacture these new materials within specific standards and contribute to a sustainable environment in construction. With this research, it is expected that these blocks will serve as a stimulus for sustainable work in the area.
