This study addresses the complex interactions between the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the school environment. Using an exploratory-descriptive methodology, there searchsoughtanin-depth understanding of the experiences of children with ASD in the educational setting, highlighting the challengesfaced and the adoptedadaptations trategies. The results revealedsensory sensitivity as a significant challenge in the school environment, with stimulisuch as brightlights, loudnoises, and uncomfortable textures negative lyimpacting the well-beingan dengagement of children. Behavioralrigidity, a common characteristic in ASD, also proves tobe a challenge in adapting to the structural and dynamic demands of the conventional school enviroment. The discussion emphasizes the importance of adaptive and personalized strategies, recognizing the need for sensorially adapted environments and customized routines, as well as inclusive and effective pedagogical practices, emphasizing collaboration among educators, health care professionals, and families. It is concluded that understanding the interaction between ASD and the school environmentis crucial for promoting the inclusion and positive development of these children.
