Abstract

Patriarchy is a social system that favors men, giving them power and control over women. This results in gender inequalities and the legitimization of violence against women, including femicide, which is the murder of women because of their gender. Thus, the study aimed to describe how patriarchal culture influences the practice of femicides in Brazil. To this end, a bibliographic literature review was carried out on the influence of patriarchal culture on feminicides committed in Brazil. The searches were directed to scientific studies in databases such as SCIELO, VHL via LILLACS and Periódico CAPS, from 2014 to 2024 The results highlight the strong influence of patriarchy on feminicide, highlighting how its social and cultural structures contribute to the perpetuation of violence against women. Blaming victims, restricting their freedoms and minimizing the responsibilities of aggressors are direct reflections of this patriarchal system. It is concluded that patriarchy exerts a significant influence on the increase in violence against women, especially in the context of femicide.
