Abstract

With the advent of unformation and communication technologies (ICT), the company has changed the way of communication with the emergence of the internet, society has changed his view and attitude toward the world. The diversity of mechanisms provided with access to the internet has influenced the way people are relating. Gradually users become slaves of mobile devices, setting your daily communication via whatsapp. In this context, the Portuguese language was not immune from the changes and adjustments that meet online status speed, especially when used by young people, being constant and creative users to create a new language contaminated by emoticons. Based on this assumption, the present study examined the importance of electronic communication used in social networks as a major factor for the construction of a new language. Methods and techniques for gathering information based on the application of observation forms the prints of 66 dialogues of 15 groups of whatsapp, sample provided by 6 young people of different age groups, attending elementary and high schools, school students in prep school and university. The forms were designed to account for emoticons occurrences during random conversations, generating graphs for analysis and reaching the objectives proposed by the research.
