This study investigates the role of education as a constitutional right in the construction of Brazilian citizenship, highlighting the importance of knowledge of fundamental notions of law in this process. Initially, the right to education is examined in the Brazilian constitutional context, outlining its objectives: full individual development, preparation for citizenship and training for the job market. The objective is to analyze how education, as a responsibility of the State, influences the individual's preparation for life in society. This study highlights the relevance of the topic, since the State does not adequately fulfill its role by not providing students with all the content necessary for their formation as citizens. Next, an analysis is carried out on which basic notions of law are essential to prepare students, even within the classroom, aiming for full individual development. To support this approach, field research is conducted that highlights how the absence of these teachings harms social progress, contributing to an increasingly intellectually dependent society.
