Abstract

Ehrlichiosis is an endemic disease in Brazil, considered one of the main diseases that affect dogs. However, despite being frequent, its diagnosis can be challenging, as it has non-specific signs and several laboratory changes, or even no changes. This disease is caused by an obligatory intracellular bacterium, transmission occurs through the bite of a contaminated ectoparasite that acts both as a vector and as a reservoir of the disease. Therefore, this work aims to report the clinical case of pancytopenia caused by Ehrlichia canis, in a 6-month-old dog, of no defined breed, who arrived for treatment complaining of vomiting and apathy, in addition to presenting dermatological manifestations in the skin.
