Abstract

This article sought to understand the elements that constitute the routine practices of parents who have children hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. An integrative review was performed using the databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) via Virtual Health Library (VHL), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE/PUBMED), Scopus and CAPES Journals, held in October 2023. It was used as a guiding question: What are the elements that constitute the routine practices of parents of children hospitalized in the PICU? The descriptors "Parents", "children", "routine practices" and "Pediatric Intensive Care Units" were used. This review resulted in three articles that were used in the analysis of the study that portray the difficulties faced by the family in the period of hospitalization of the child. With everything the hospitalization of children in PICU modifies the routine practices of the family nucleus and contributes to the distancing of family members, requiring reorganization of daily life.
