RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN SPORT: RACISM AND BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL LEGISLATION

This article seeks to understand how football legislation addresses racial issues, and how it acts to regulate the issues inherent in sport, given the existence of a private legal system that produces norms and has its own principles. Firstly, an analysis is made of how the insertion of players of black and peripheral origin into Brazilian football took place and the historical retrospective of racial discrimination. Then there is an approach to the creation, structuring and applicability of sports legislation on racial issues and how the racial prejudice experienced in Brazilian society and the institutionalization of racism in the legal system is responsible for the manifestations of violence and intolerance in Brazilian sport. Lastly, a list of notable cases of Racial Discrimination in Sport.
