Abstract

The term diabetes mellitus describes a group of diseases in which abnormal carbohydrate metabolism is observed, characterized by hyperglycemia. This pathological condition is associated with high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality, high rates of cesarean section, malformations and intrauterine fetal deaths and requires differentiated prenatal care. The present study sought to identify the access that pregnant women with Gestational Diabetes have to health services; This is a descriptive research, with a qualitative and exploratory approach with pregnant women who were diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and who are undergoing high-risk prenatal care at Policlínica Osvaldo Cruz, seeking to identify variables such as level of knowledge about the disease, time waiting time between referral and care in specialized care and difficulty in accessing supplies such as glucometers and blood glucose strips in the public health service.
