Prolonged exposure to electronic screens has become a growing concern due to potential impacts on child development. This review examined the impact of this exposure on children's cognitive, socioemotional, and physical perspectives, as well as recommendations for mitigating these effects. Analysis of the included studies revealed associations between excessive use of electronic devices and delays in language development, behavior problems, lower academic performance and risks to children's physical and mental health. The recommendations highlight the importance of setting clear limits on screen time, promoting a healthy balance between electronic device use and other activities, and educating parents, caregivers and healthcare professionals about strategies for healthy screen use. These findings highlight the need for holistic, evidence-based approaches to protecting children's well-being and healthy development in a digitally connected world.
