Contributions to practical biology teaching in a school of Santo Ângelo , traditionally, biology has been taught as a set of facts , description of phenomena and concepts set out to decorate , being predominant feature of this teaching physical and intellectual passivity of students . Teaching of Natural Sciences and Biology in their theoretical , requires a constant relationship between theory and practice, between scientific knowledge and common sense. These joints are of utmost importance , since the disciplines of science and biology are implied as an experimental science , scientific evidence , articulated the theoretical assumptions . This study aimed , through a survey at a state school presented as practical biology classes may be more beneficial for students in terms of acquiring knowledge. A field research was conducted at the State High School Dr. No Augusto Nascimento e Silva , Santo Angelo, RS to the overall of twelve students using the theme bacterium, a questionnaire was applied before to analyze the student's prior knowledge , and classroom practices after a was applied the same questionnaire in order to analyze how much the student learned class practice . After analyzing the results of the two questionnaires , it was concluded that students have a notion of the bacterium but fail to relate them with their day to day , it was revealed that students have much interest in the practice , but that a small minority of teachers use it is this teaching in their classes , even though they know the importance of practical classes in the discipline of biology.
