The theme of science in action: students' perception of the risks of sexually transmitted infections in the final years of elementary school classes at a school in the city of Gravatá-PE stands out for its relevance to the social context, as it seeks to evaluate the problems related to such infections. The objective of this research was to evaluate the knowledge of students at Escola José Batista de Melo related to sexually transmitted infections in the city of Gravatá-PE. The type of study was descriptive and with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The research subjects were 120 students, 60 from the 8th year and 60 from the 9th year of elementary school II. This research involved 8 (eight) teachers, 01 (one) manager, 01 (one) pedagogical coordinator, thus totaling 130 research subjects. As a data collection instrument, questionnaires were applied with objective and subjective questions that deal with the topic discussed. Given the percentages presented and duly measured, it can be seen that there was good use of the proposed work. The results showed that greater intervention by the school with students is necessary and that teachers must participate even more in ongoing training, given that the data presented revealed a certain limitation of actions that can be applied to students.
