The objective of the study was: to relate the human right to sex education with the prevention of affective violence and its harms. Starting from the theoretical study strategy, with an exploratory-descriptive approach and questioning whether sex education can act as an instrument to combat violence and mental health problems. To this end, works of scientific rigor were studied on education in human rights, sex education, affective violence, on the prevention of their injuries, as well as domestic and international legislation. It was evidenced that formal sex education has aspects that allow the development of a greater critical sense about the experiences lived within relationships, as well as obtaining clarity about mechanisms of repression and elaborating affective values from a questioning about one's own behaviors and from their peers, creating healthier interpersonal communications, which allows combating harmful behaviors within relationships and avoiding injuries triggered by them.
