This article aims to present critical reflections on understanding sexual and gender diversity, exploring the trajectory from stigmatization to the emergence of tolerance. The text takes a critical approach, examining the cultural, normative and individual changes that have shaped the way society perceives and deals with diverse expressions of sexuality and gender identity. It delves into the complexities of cultural transformations, highlighting important achievements in promoting tolerance and critically analyzing the role of legal regulations in this process, evaluating their impact on promoting rights and reducing discrimination. Furthermore, the study is not limited to a retrospective analysis, but also looks to the future. It proposes reflections on persistent challenges and suggests potential directions for society to move towards a more comprehensive and welcoming understanding of sexual and gender diversity. With a reflective and critical approach, the article seeks to contribute significantly to the ongoing dialogue on this crucial topic, highlighting the need for cultural transformations to build fairer and more inclusive societies.
