This work was materialized from studies and reflections about the democratic management in school and how this experience has been effective in the municipality of Codó-Maranhão, having as a guiding axis, the Municipal Education Plan-PME, Law No. 1.727 of 23/06/2015. The challenges encountered in the context of school management through the conceptions of managers in relation to the processes of Democratic Management are also analyzed in this text. The research also interpreted the context of the approval of the "Municipal Education Plan - PME", its effectiveness and challenges. In sum, this article contemplates the studies on democratic management from the point of view of educational policies as public action, with reference to theorists who investigate and discuss this area, taking into account the Law of Directives and Bases of Education, as well as interpreting the legal documents of the PNE, PEE, PME, among others that contemplate this theme.
